Now & Then: The Appalachian Magazine, Volume 06, Issue 01, published in 1989. The theme of this issue is Health in Appalachia. This issue documents the intersection of traditional healing practices and emerging rural healthcare systems in Appalachia, featuring discussions of folk medicine, midwifery, public health initiatives, and Cherokee approaches to wellness.
