Description
Water conservations will become increasingly attractive as demand grows. Directives already issued at the federal level are moving us nearer to the time when conservation of water will be a nationwide primary objective. Instead of allowing this objective to be solved as a single purpose problem, environmental health professionals must help to insure that a comprehensive approach is taken and that forthcoming innovations will not jeopardize the public health. Some of the approaches to decreased water usage are reducing pressure in the distribution system, use of water saving devices, reducing leakage, in-home wastewater recycling systems, and increased water prices. These methods all present potential problems that must be considered before they are implemented.
