Description
p-Chloro-[14C]phenylalanine administered in vivo to rats was recovered from acid hydrolysates of purified enzyme protein by amino acid analysis. Inhibition in vivo of rat liver phenylalanine 4-hydroxylase (EC 1.14.3.1) was significantly reduced by administration of cycloheximide. The active incorporation of p-chloro-[2-14C]-phenylalanine into brain and liver aminoacyl-RNA and protein was also inhibited by cycloheximide. Disc gel electrophoresis patterns of purified phenylalanine 4-hydroxylase are altered following p-chlorophenylalanine administration.
