A Message from the Chair

Environmental factors in the state of Tennessee have made it necessary for universities to address challenging issues in regard to declining public resources available for higher education funding. As public funding continues to decline and a greater financial burden falls on our students, it is essential that we look for new resources, new partners, and new methods that will enable us to maintain and improve our outcomes.

The Extramural Resources Task Force will engage in the process of identifying activities and initiatives outside the scope of the University's educational mission that may help generate additional resources to grow the enterprise. Through the ETSU 125 process, three distinct themes have emerged: Growing Business and Business-Related Activities; Developing Private Funding Resources (Individual and Corporate) and the Fostering Distinctive Research and Sponsored Program Activities. Addressing these diverse interests, the task force will engage in data gathering, benchmarking best practices and generating ideas. A proposal with priorities will be developed and presented for consideration.
