Short Abstract

Vocal fatigue is a common symptom experienced by professional voice users and individuals with voice disorders. This study aims to systematically investigate the impact of loudness as a vocal demand ingredient specifically targeting vocal fold cover fatigue as the underlying mechanism. It was hypothesized that individuals exposed to a vocal demand of increased loudness would demonstrate an increase in phonation threshold pressure and self-reported symptoms of vocal effort. The trends in the data support this hypothesis.
