Excerpt: The apparent (and curious) disconnect between Grace’s beliefs about herself as a writer and her success (in terms of grades, test scores, the quality of her upper-division writing, and her overall academic achievements) led me to explore her case in more depth. In doing so, I draw on Grace’s experiences in order to illuminate the relationship between self-efficacy, students’ beliefs about writing, and writing development.
