Description
The Computer-Integrated Manufacturing in Higher Education (CIMHE) Alliance is designed and supported by the IBM Corporation for the purpose of enhancing manufacturing education at each member institution. The alliance provides a program of faculty education, development of course materials, demonstration centers, and a communications network. It is coordinated by a steering committee, seven institutional support centers, and an alliance communications support center. The support centers, located regionally throughout the country, serve as demonstration/training sites and provide direct linkage to member institutions in their geographic areas. The communications center provides information exchange among the alliance members. Conceived as a dynamic organization, the alliance will respond to a growing array of higher education and industry partnerships in CIM and CIM-related programs.
