Description
The legalistic approach to law enforcement is analyzed using the masculine perspective of analysis and rationalization and the feminine perspective of nurturing and caring. Law enforcement is governed primarily by the masculine approach which leads to several problems in crime control. The feminine approach is suggested as a method for addressing those problems. Although many law enforcement officers and administrators will find it difficult to apply this approach, the argument is made that the feminine approach is the more natural way to deal with deviant behavior. The argument is developed by exploring the unnatural behavior of war. Finally, several suggestions are made to support the idea that the femine approach to law enforcement can be used to solve some of law enforcement's problems.
