Description

Hi All,

The main story of June 2025 was the first major heat wave of the year that sent temperatures into the mid-to-upper 90’s and heat index values over 100°F for most locations in the state from June 22nd to 28th. This included the first day of the year with a high over 90°F for many parts of the state. The National Weather Service offices covering Tennessee issued heat advisories for most counties in the state for at least 1 day during this period and several areas of West and Middle Tennessee had multiple days in a row with these heat advisories. The National Weather Service also put out heat risk forecasts showing that most areas of West and Middle Tennessee would have major to extreme heat risk conditions over the week from June 23 to June 27, based on high temperatures and humidity lasting for several days in a row.

If you haven't had time to fill out our TN Weather & Climate Data Needs Survey, here's the link again: https://bit.ly/tnwxsurvey. The survey includes questions regarding weather and climate data that you have used within the last 12 months, and weather/climate data that you may need for current and future projects. Also, if there are weather/climate datasets that may be more useful in a different format or are otherwise difficult to work with, please let us know. Depending on the level of detail you would like to provide, the survey should take from 5-15 minutes. Please share with others as well! The more feedback we receive, the better we will be able to prioritize development of future products.

Stay cool!
