Abstract

Dr. Mick Whitelaw conducts fossil casting session at Roan Mountain State Park

 

Roan Mountain is the scene of naturalist rallies throughout the seasons, but for children, the Xtreme Roan Adventures Kid's Naturalist Rally is the best. The rally is scheduled for Friday evening, July 28, and all day Saturday, July 29, and included a Spider Hunt, Moth Party, Salamander Adventure, Wet Rocks Geology, Animal Tracking, Fossil Casting with Dr. Mick Whitelaw from ETSU’s Department of Geosciences, and much more! The rally is designed for children of all ages. The participants have ranged from 12 months old to 17 years old. The average age is 9 to 12. Children must be accompanied by adults, so the rally become an adventure for the whole family.

Admission is $6 per child and $6 per adult. Registration can be done in one of three ways, either online at https://formsmarts.com/form/1vch?mode=h5, or by mailing the completed form found at https://formsmarts.com/form/1vch?mode=h5, or by registering at the park amphitheater on Saturday, July 29.
