Abstract

'Black Appalachia: African American Art in Northeast TN' featuring two of the titans of African Appalachian art will be on display at Tipton Gallery in downtown Johnson City. The exhibition will feature the art of Sammie Nicely and Bessie Harvey, with glass artist Calvin Nicely, as well as fiber/mixed media artist Lydia Wilson, together with emerging artists Jonathan Adams, Kelsie Dulaney-Hayworth, V. Kelsey Ellis, and Shalam Minter.

The reception will be held First Friday, August 4 from 6-8pm and during the Little Chicago Festival August 11-12 Friday and Saturday from 3-7pm. The exhibit will run through August 28. For The Tipton Gallery is located at 126 Spring St., downtown Johnson City, opens for receptions and by appointment.
