Abstract
Faculty member Scott Contreras-Koterbay's book entitled The New Aesthetic and Art: Constellations of the Postdigital has been recently published. Contreras-Koterbay and fellow author ukasz Mirocha trace the origins of the New Aesthetic in visual arts, design, and software, and bring to light an original perspective that identifies an autonomous quality in common digital objects and examples of art that are increasingly an important influence for today’s culture and society.
Scott Contreras-Koterbay has been a faculty member in the Department of Art & Design since 1998. He received his Ph.D. from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland. He is a professor of contemporary art history and aesthetics with a research emphasis on aesthetic ontology and reception theory.
