Abstract
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Blackburn, Childers & Steagall (BCS), a longtime supporter of East Tennessee State University and the College of Business and Technology, has partnered with the Department of Accountancy to fund a faculty fellowship. The program is designed to stimulate and facilitate projects by faculty members to improve their teaching, to advance their scholarly and creative work, to enhance the University's academic programs, and to realize institutional goals.
“In recognition of the 60-year anniversary of BCS, we are thrilled to reestablish our partnership with Blackburn, Childers & Steagall,” said Joel Faidley, interim chair of the Department of Accountancy. “Their support enables the Department of Accountancy to increase the quality and delivery of teaching and training the next generation of accounting professionals.”
BCS is the largest accounting firm in the Tri-Cities region with offices in Johnson City, Kingsport and Greeneville, as well as Boone, North Carolina. BCS employs many ETSU graduates and understands the importance of its faculty fellowship and the pivotal investment it continues to make across the region.
“The partners of BCS understand the significant role the accounting faculty at ETSU play in the profession,” said Kevin Peters, a partner at BCS. “Having well-trained faculty will help ensure that aspiring accounting students receive a quality education. This in turn will pay dividends for the region as we are aware of the vital role accountants play in all phases of business, nonprofit, education, and local government entities.”
