JOHNSON CITY (Jan. 31, 2021) – Congratulations to Dr. Virginia Foley and Janet Stork on their selection to the All-Southern Conference Faculty and Staff Team!
All-Southern Conference Faculty and Staff Team
Dr. Virginia Foley and Janet Stork were named to the All-Southern Conference Faculty and Staff Team.The team is comprised of two representatives from each of the 10 SoCon member schools. The honorees are selected by their respective institutions based on demonstrated service to the institution and contributions to campus life and the local community. Faculty members selected have demonstrated strong contributions to teaching, research and/or service, while staff members are recognized for bringing out the best in others and creating conditions for success.
Foley is a professor in ETSU’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis and program coordinator for the Administrative Endorsement master’s and doctoral programs. She has served the university in a number of leadership positions, including president of the Faculty Senate and faculty trustee on the ETSU Board of Trustees. She is also a member of numerous committees, including the Academic Portfolio Review Committee and the Institutional Review Board, and is a mentor to other faculty.
Foley’s work takes her into area schools, where she helps principals develop their leadership and professional skills. She has been part of the Thesis and Dissertation Boot Camp sponsored by the College of Graduate and Continuing Studies and can often be seen helping students from other programs in addition to her own students. Even though her program is online, Foley’s students choose to come to Johnson City throughout their studies to meet with Foley, and she hosts them for meals at her home. She regularly attends their events, from bluegrass and music department concerts to theater performances and sporting events.
Stork is the event and project coordinator for the ETSU College of Public Health. An ardent supporter of ETSU athletics, she has organized the college’s tailgating efforts for football games, as well as an annual Family Day for faculty and staff to attend a women’s basketball game with their families. For the tailgating events, Stork has created posters showing every College of Public Health student who is on a sports team, in the marching band, or a member of the cheerleading, dance or spirit squad. She also conceptualized and now organizes the college’s pinning and hooding ceremony each semester, as well as the annual student awards ceremony.
Stork came to ETSU in April 2010 as an executive aide in the Office of the Dean in the College of Public Health before transitioning in 2018 to her current position. In this role, she also serves as the coordinator for the Tennessee Institute of Public Health. Stork has twice earned a College of Public Health Outstanding Support Staff Award (2012, 2018) and earned individual Dean’s Recognition for Outstanding Contribution honors in 2011 and 2019 and group honors four times.
