Abstract
Introduction: Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) is an integrated care model that embeds Behavioral Health Consultants (BHCs) into the primary care team to provide on-site behavioral health care. The aims of this study were to examine how various PCBH practice components are associated with primary care provider (PCP) satisfaction and explore which are the strongest predictors of satisfaction. Method: Participants were 129 PCPs from 13 PCBH clinics (Mage = 37.5, 62% White, 54% female). Bivariate correlations and a simultaneous multiple linear regression were run to examine relationships between PCBH components and PCP satisfaction. Results: While all PCBH components were positively associated with PCP satisfaction at the bivariate level, only four were significant when examined simultaneously. Education had the strongest relationship with PCP satisfaction, followed by accessibility, generalist practice, and high productivity. Discussion: Findings highlight benefits of PCBH over traditional mental health care referrals and may guide future PCBH implementation efforts.
