Research for "Carrie The Musical"

Abstract

This project is meant to answer the following questions: Why should ETSU do “Carrie The Musical” now? What is the point of this musical? What is the history of the story? What can audience members and those who are involved in it gain from doing it? These are all important questions to answer in the theatrical process and the person who helps to answer the questions and help make it known to all who work on the show is called the dramaturgy, this is not a position that is in every show but it is a position that is very helpful. To gather this information I read “Carrie” by Stephen King, watched all adaptations of it, read research articles about telekinesis, Carrie, the effects of religious trauma, the effects of bullying, bullying in today's world, religious trauma in today's world, sexual assault and the effects in can have on people, and statistics on sexual assault victims. As a result of doing all of the above I was able to learn that “Carrie The Musical” has so many powerful messages that many can learn but the biggest one is treating others with kindness.
