Abstract

Gun violence continues to be a serious public safety issue in rural areas of East Tennessee, southwest Virginia, and western North Carolina. While these communities face many of the same firearm-related crimes seen in larger cities, the challenges are often greater due to wide geographic coverage, limited law enforcement resources, and weak coordination between agencies.
