A Study on Applying the Skillset of Accountants to the Challenges Presented by ESG
Abstract
This study’s purpose is in collecting information regarding accountants and accounting academics perceived level of importance of the new reporting requirements of ESG. Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting requirements have recently gained their importance in industries, yet have not been studied to determine their full impact. This study will speak upon the current environment of ESG and then address the skills of accountants and how those skills can be applied to the rising challenges presented by this new reporting requirement. A survey was conducted to obtain data and is a key part of the study.
